RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation)
Looking up relevant documents and handing them to the AI before it answers, like an open-book exam.
Definition
A pattern where relevant documents are retrieved from a knowledge base and injected into the context before generation. Enables models to reference up-to-date or domain-specific information without fine-tuning.
Example
A support bot embeds the question, finds the three closest help articles in a vector index, and pastes them into the prompt.
