How long stored text stays ready for cheap reuse before it expires, like a parking meter.
Definition
How long a cached prompt prefix stays available. On Claude the default TTL is 5 minutes, with writes at 1.25x base input; a 1-hour TTL is available with writes at 2x base input.
Example
Pause longer than 5 minutes and the default cache expires; "ttl": "1h" keeps it for an hour at a 2x write price.
