Code Map
A table of contents for a codebase, so the AI knows where things live before it opens any files.
Definition
A compact, generated overview of a codebase (files, key symbols, signatures, and dependencies) that an agent reads before opening files, so it finds the right code with fewer tokens. Aider's repo map ranks files with a dependency graph and fits the map into a token budget (the map-tokens setting, default 1K tokens). Tokalator's /codemap command writes source-linked GLOSSARY.md and SITE-MAP.md files without calling a model.
Example
Run /codemap and the agent reads SITE-MAP.md to learn that createInvoice lives in lib/billing.ts#L42 before opening a single file.
