Summarisation
Replacing the full conversation with a short recap before each new message, like reading the minutes instead of the transcript.
Definition
A context management strategy that condenses the full conversation history into a compact executive summary before each new turn. Preserves the big picture but loses verbatim detail and adds latency from the summarisation LLM call.
Example
Before turn 30, a cheap model condenses 29 turns into 200 words of goals, decisions, and open bugs. The main model reads only that recap.
