Your own instructions for what a summary must keep, like telling a note-taker which details matter most.
Definition
Custom instructions that control how compaction summarizes conversation history. In Anthropic's server-side compaction this is the instructions parameter, which replaces the default summarization prompt rather than adding to it, so it must ask for everything the task needs kept (for example order IDs, account numbers, and resolution status).
Example
instructions: "Keep every order ID, file path, failing test name, and open question." replaces the default summarization prompt entirely.
